Policies

  • UNIFORM:  In order to uphold the professional image of STCC Dance Academy,  all students must wear a uniform that reflects the to every class. Failure to follow or adhere to this policy may be considered as misconduct, or if it is of a serious nature may result in disciplinary action. 

    • Uniform Fee: $30/shirt

  • ATTENDANCE: Consistent attendance is crucial for progress. Students are expected to attend classes on a regular basis and adhere to the semester structure. Dancers must use good time management skills to ensure they do not miss class. If a student misses 3 or more classes without due cause it may be considered as misconduct and may result in disciplinary action.

  • TARDINESS: All dancers must arrive on time for class. If a student is later than 10 minutes, the dancer will sit and watch the class. They may rejoin the class at the break to avoid distractions. If a student is late to class multiple times it may be considered as misconduct and may result in disciplinary action.

  • EXTENDED ABSENCES: Payment per semester is still required regardless of whether the child/student attends classes or not. Extended absences or family vacations, illnesses etc. will not be reimbursed.

  • SOCIALIZING: Socializing during class needs to be kept to a minimum. Students are to give their undivided attention to the instructor during class time. Cell phones are prohibited during instructional time.  Students may use their phones only when permitted by the instructor.

  • RESPECT: STCC Dance Academy strives to create safe spaces for all its students. As such, all students are to show respect to their teachers and fellow classmates. Students are to actively listen to feedback given by the instructor and apply them as suggestions to their own practice. Students should NOT correct each other.

  • PARENT OBSERVATION: Parents are not permitted to observe classes. They are to drop students off at the beginning of class and then return 5 minutes prior to the end of class. This will allow for your dancer to be more capable of focusing on their class and build independence.  The observation of class is only permitted on the first day of class for our new Starlet (Ages 3-6) dancers. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in supporting this policy.

  • CHOREOGRAPHY:  It is prohibited for students of STCC Dance Academy to re-teach choreography taught in class or by an instructor to another person(s). It is also prohibited to learn choreography via videos with intent to perform for private events.  Failure to follow or adhere to this policy will be considered misconduct, and may lead to disciplinary action or dismissal.

  • PERFORMANCES: Performance booked separately from a STCC Dance Academy instructor must be cleared. This is to ensure the routine and costume reflects the professional image of STCC Dance Academy.

  • DISMISSAL: 

    • STCC Dance Academy reserves the right to dismiss a student if we feel the child is not benefiting from our program. In this case, any future payments owing will become null & void and the service agreement will be dismissed. STCC Dance Academy will also agree to refund the complete payment made towards the session in progress.  

    • STCC Dance Academy holds a strict No Bullying Policy, Should a child/student demonstrate such behavior STCC Dance Academy reserves the right to terminate enrollment immediately, with no refund.

    •  STCC Dance Academy holds a respectable reputation as we represent dancers of all ages within our community. Should a student show indecent behavior at bookings, public events and/or social media, this will be grounds for dismissal.
